We've had two Volvos that Mark has serviced. Unfortunately we are not as good at picking used Volvos as we are at choosing mechanics.Mark always tells us exactly what's going on and what needs to be done. If he thinks a repair is going to cost a lot, he'll tell us up front so we can consider whether we even want to keep the car (once we didn't - it was an old '86 in too bad of shape). When they do fix something at Mark's it stays fixed or they correct the problem until we're satisfied. They back up their work. These guys know Volvos. What reminded me to write this review was Mark's phone call, following up on a recent electrical/computer repair (the diagnosis that saved us from replacing our whole transmission for a while). He wanted to make sure it was still driving okay.Don't take your Volvo to the dealer for service or repair. Take it to an independent Volvo mechanic. If you're in the Valley, take it to Mark's.

After my CarMax warranty ran out on my Volvo S40 I was looking for a service shop that was honest and boy am I glad I found Mark's. I've been bringing my car in for almost 2 years for maintenance and repair and I always get honest estimates, quick repairs, rides to work and great service. After I was having trouble starting my car, Mark quickly fixed the problem (a leaky hose) and even called me back a week later to make sure the car was running well. They know my name whenever I call, and I know they are fair and honest. I highly recommend Mark for all you Volvo owners out there. If Mark is not available to answer questions, I'm always happy to speak to Nelson who answers my questions and is always helpful.

ok we love mark.my boyfriend and i called mark to look at our car.. the check engine light had been coming off and on. so i brought the car in a few days later around 10 am. mark asked if i needed a ride home, really nice!unfortunately we had a lot of things that needed repairing with our car, but the prices were definitely fair. mark was really straight forward about what needed to be done and explained everything that needed to be fixed to me. no beating around the bush or trying to get anything extra fixed that didnt need immediate attention (like the air conditioner). we knew there was some sort of problem because our car took a long time to start and it smelled like gas! ugh.my boyfriend picked me up and mark had the volvo all fixed by like 3:30 pm. same day, so awesome. when we picked up the car around 5:45 we gave it a test drive and could hardly believe how different the car felt! it had pickup!! didnt feel like a sluggish sick thing. lol. and we've already noticed the car now has better gas mileage. i really enjoyed mark's honesty, kindness, and just overall at home experience. and most importantly, our car is fixed! we really feel like we can trust mark and will definitely only be taking our volvo to him from now on.

Mark's independent Volvo service is an excellent place to bring your Volvo in for repairs. In fact, I wouldn't recommend any other place. Mark is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. First off, the garage is absolutely immaculate, I have never seen a repair shop as clean as this one. Secondly, they work very well with addressing my concerns with my car. They don't have a problem with answering my questions, and you will get educated on what's wrong with your car with Mark's team. I'd like to thank Mark and his team for working with me on getting my car into shape!

I'm an Air Force officer who understands service. Mark's Independent Volvo displays the characteristics of the men and woman that I serve with: technical skill, the highest level of professionalism, integrity, and pride in work.It all started last Saturday.I brought my car down to Mark's for the first time this Monday. After coming back from LAX after Thanksgiving, my car was having a host of electrical, idling and acceleration problems. In short, the car was in terrible shape. On Monday morning of this week, I looked to find a volvo mechanic. After reading reviews on Yelp, I realized that Mark's was THE place in SoCal to take my car. My assessment couldn't have been more accurate.I called the shop and was told that I could bring it in the same day.I dropped the car off that evening after hours and promptly on Tuesday, Mark called me with the diagnosis. He gave me a list of recommendations and prioritized work that needed to be done. I've never had a mechanic so honestly and openly assess my vehicle. Mark told me what needed to be done and then actually talk me out of work that I thought I needed. Mark solved my MAJOR issues for a VERY reasonable rate. He had the car ready on Wednesday afternoon. (Although I was out of town and couldn't pick up until Friday).Mark took care in describing all the issues. He took me around the block for a test drive when I picked up the vehicle. My s60 drives like a brand new car. I had a fantastic ride back to the the Air Force Base. The bottom line is that Mark's is the only place to take your Volvo. I'm transferred around the country every couple years and I've never had a mechanic like Mark. I give his shop the highest recommendation.

I was going to buy a volvo from Craigslist and decided to bring it to Mark's to get checked out. When I got there, he told me the car was a total lemon and that the guy was probably lying about the mileage. He then called a friend he knew who was selling his volvo. Within an hour I had a great new Volvo that had been taken care of by Mark for the past 4 years. He was so so so great! I couldn't be more grateful to him for helping me not buy and lemon and instead finding me an affordable car that is in great shape! Yay thank you Mark!!!

We have been bringing our cars (and our kids' too) to Mark's for 6 years and know we are getting a fair price for excellent work.I feel safer knowing our kids are driving cars that he has inspected and/or worked on.If a lot of work is needed he has prioritized it for us.Also, I happen to know he is regularly jetting off to training to keep up on the latest technology. And lastly, have you seen how clean he keeps his shop? It's immaculate. He's got pride in his work and it really shows.Definitely recommend you bring your Lexus, Toyota and of course your Volvo there.

After years of problems with our Volvo CX90 and countless expensive dealership service bills, we finally found Mark's shop and it's been a saving grace. Mark's prices are fair and he has cured our vehicle's nightmarish chronic electrical malfunctions. Most recently, Mark correctly diagnosed our drive shaft failure after the dealer wrongly advised that is was a transmission issue (which conveniently occurred after the expiration of the manufacturer's warranty). The car drives like new since Mark fixed it and literally at a fraction of the dealer's service quote. Thanks Mark!I recently discovered that Mark also services the Lexus brand, so I plan on taking all of our cars here in the future.

We drive 30 miles each way to take our Volvos to Mark's for two reasons: knowledge and trust. Mark, Nelson, and Pepe know these cars inside and out, everything from our 2008 C30 to our 1967 1800S. Our 1800 wasn't perfect when we bought it, but Mark has sorted out everything from the cooling system to the brakes to the fuse boxes. Just give him a screwdriver and a few minutes with your SU carburetors, and they'll run so much smoother! Try finding a dealer or even another specialty shop with enough vintage Volvo experience to do that. Mark's knowledge extends to all the newer Volvos too- we recently bought a used 1998 S70 T5 with over 200K on it, and in less than a week he had it running like new. More importantly for our wallet, he helped us decide which repairs to spend on and which could wait (change the oil cooler line seals, wait on the spring seats). The Volvo shop that inspected the car in Irvine would have charged us double for stuff we didn't need, while neglecting the crucial repairs! Which brings us to trust. It's very rare to find a mechanic who will work with you to save you money and get your Volvo running the way it should. Mark is that mechanic, has been for years, and he's worth every penny.P.S. Sometimes when things get busy around the shop, Mark will get a little grumbly. Not to worry. He's just trying to make sure he takes care of everyone!

Having to take your car to a mechanic is never a pleasant experience. Especially as a woman, I always wonder if they're going to pull a fast one on me. But working with Mark and his team was very easy. I have an '07 S40 and it was my first time at Mark's shop, he took his time to explain everything to me in detail, was patient with my questions and genuine in his concern, then he patiently explained it all over again to my boyfriend on the phone. It was not cheap but his pricing is very fair, I appreciated that Mark was willing to work with me around my budget and am very happy with the work they performed. I got quotes from a few other shops, some were cheaper and some were more exspensive, but the places that were cheaper seemed a bit sketchy and in the end I went with Mark's because it just felt right. He seemed to be a very fair and honest person and my car now drives 'Like New' so I have no regrets and would definitely recommend him to other volvo owners. *** AND their work is warranted for a year! Can't ask for anything better.***
